GTB Voting Rights for All

Over half of GTB Members are denied the right to vote just because they live outside the service area. That ends now.

Important: To make sure your signature counts toward the 30% required threshold under GTB law and federal regulations, and counts for the contest, follow these steps:

1.) Download and Print the petition at the button above.

2.) Gather NEW signatures. If participating in the GTB Vote Petition Contest, a collector may bring a signer to a Notary Public and complete both the left-hand Collector section and the right-hand Notary Public section. Completing both boxes provides 100% assurance your signature will count.

3.) Mail the notarized form to GTB Vote, P.O. Box 6243, Traverse City, MI 49696. Must be postmarked by September 1, 2025 for the GTB Vote Petition Challenge.

These extra steps mentioned in 2 above are critical because the signature acceptance requirements are very stringent, and both the GTB Tribal Council and the BIA are likely to attempt to find any reason to reject a signature.

Your personal information will be kept confidential and used only for official petition verification. Petitions not notarized or improperly completed are at high risk of being disqualified.

Why This Petition Matters

The Grand Traverse Band Constitution currently allows only Members living in the 6-county service area to vote in Tribal elections. That means more than half of our people, fully enrolled Tribal Members, have no voice in decisions that affect all of us. It’s time to restore equal voting rights to everyone.
