GTB Voting Rights for All

Over half of GTB Members are denied the right to vote just because they live outside the service area. That ends now.

Important: To make sure your signature counts toward the 30% required threshold under GTB law and federal regulations, and counts for the contest, follow these steps:

1.) Download and Print the petition at the button above.

2.) Bring blank form you printed and your Tribal ID to your bank (or other notary). ONLY SIGN the right-hand Notary Public section in the presence of a notary public.

3.) Mail the notarized form to GTB Vote, P.O. Box 6243, Traverse City, MI 49696.

Both the GTB Tribal Council and the BIA are likely to attempt to find any reason to reject a signature. Using a notary public means they will have a very difficult time rejecting the fact that you signed and would like all Tribal Member's voices to be heard.

Your personal information will be kept confidential and used only for official petition verification. Petitions not notarized or improperly completed are at high risk of being disqualified.

Why This Petition Matters

The Grand Traverse Band Constitution currently allows only Members living in the 6-county service area to vote in Tribal elections. That means more than half of our people, fully enrolled Tribal Members, have no voice in decisions that affect all of us. It’s time to restore equal voting rights to everyone.
